I tie a piece of line about 10 inches long on the bend of my hook and to my spoon and slow troll them..... works great.. I make my own spoons you do exactly as you say. But you have to use gold hooks for the soldier to stick...
I have heard about using small spoons for crappie and bought a shad king 1/32 oz spoon by hildebrandt a few days ago. It swims good and flutters great on the drop. I have also seen a website that has tiny spoons. They say icefisherman can use them too. Looks like to me you could make these spoons from small willow leaf blades. Anyways, does anyone fish with these spoons and whats your favorite way to fish them?

Look in the archives. I have a few threads there on how to solder them and fish them.

Me and ship had a very lengthy conversationabout this. And he put some very good info on this....
I've used them quite a bit too with good luck on all types of fish. On a side note, what exactly is something like a Rooster Tail? Spoon or is it called something else? They are one of my favorite hard baits to throw...
