    Default Crankbait question.

Trolling for crappie do you prefer a tight or wide wobble? (fast or slow action) Thoughts on jointed lures? Thanks-

    Yes.

And now for the non-smart allecky reply:

It's hard to beat a Bandit with it's size and action. Lots of stuff will work as good, but I haven't found anything that will work better consistently.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

If you are an old bass fisher take your on hand plugs out and give them a try, doesn't cost anything to give what you already have a try. But if you are in the market for new plugs as others have said it's hard to beat a Bandit. That said the last time Tritonman was over to our lake after the Bandit bite slowed way down he was catching some on the berkley fliker shad, my fishing partner went home and ordered $50 worth of them.

Thanks all. Seems like Bandit is the resounding choice. Which is lucky for me since I have bought 43 in the past two weeks. :D

I am going to be hitting the bargain bins/clearance sales and start painting my own. (along with building a boat!)

Steve, my thoughts on a jointed shad raps or similar are what you described- those days when the fish are just not excited about the bandits- I want an alternative that gives a different action/shape/profile.

Anybody know of a source of unpainted bandits?

The question you SHOULD ask is what do the CRAPPIE prefer. Actually they prefer both, it depends on their mood. Yes on the jointed lures. Same reason. A wide wobble indicates a slow moving bait while a tight wobble indicates a faster moving bait and is for more aggressive fish. jmo EB

I have a lot of 200 and 300 bandits and they work great, but I agree that you should give the #7 berkely flicker shad a try. Not only do the flicker shad catch a lot of fish, but they are cheap to buy if you play your cards right. Bass pro will honor cabelas everyday price which is $3.99. Also if you buy $40 worth you can get a $15 rebate from Berkley. You can do the math but that makes for a heck of price on a good bait. I have used the rebate several times the last two years and it is simple to do and I got my money. They seem to work as well or better at times for me as the bandits. I think Berkley is missing the boat a little by not being more aggressive in marketing the flicker shad to crappie fisherman and not just walleye. I would also suggest buying a few #5 jointed shad raps in the black silver color. Good luck.
