Default Minnesota Slab plus unwanted Catch (Pics)

Now I know you southern boys may catch 13 inchers all the time but by Minnesota standards, this is a quality catch. (Still looking for my 15'').

I bet that bowfin was fun to catch. They will stretch your string.

I didn't realize you had BowFin up that way. I used to fish for them on purpose in the dead lakes in MS with a Snagless Sally, they loved that lure and would try hard to destroy your tackle.

The Bowfin was absolutely fun to catch. The only reason it was unwanted was I was using a 4.5 foot Ultra right rod which bent farther than I cared to see it bend. Plus, I only use one lure no matter where I crappie fish and the one on my line was the only one I had on me. (Forget the rest at home). As you guys know, Bowfins teeth will bite through 6 pound test in the blink of an eye too. Thankfully landed the beast though.

Got a place near Grand Rapids. North .......town called Bigfork. Fish there quite a bit in the summer time. Those crappies get me going.....love the color of those specks!

The quality of fish is determined by where you catch it. That's a beautiful fish from your area. Good pic! Makes you want to go again.
