are white bass and hybrid bass good to eat. i am catching lots of them.

Yep!! Not quite as good as Crappie, but good. If there is a dark bloodline try and cut it out if ya can.

They aren't crappie, that is for sure! They are edible, if you are fish hungry.

I like them pretty good, just get rid of the red meat.

When I filet a white or a hybrid...I will first cut the meat off the fish down the backbone as normal....then flip skin side down....then holding my knife blade up just a little...I will try and leave about 1/16 inch of the meat attached to the skin....

This outer 1/16 inch of meat is "red" meat the others are talking about that gives the fish a "fishy" taste....

It takes practice....but with practice you'll be able to leave the "red" meat on the skin for discarding....

This seems easier to me than filleting as normal and then trying to trim the "red" meat off after the fillet is removed from the skin...

(I fillet catfish the same way except leaving 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the "red" meat attached to the skin)

I fillet as usual and then cut out the red meat along with the lateral line. Once you get use to doing it, it is easy. Very good flavor to them. EB

I dont care much for 'em. I guess I'm spoiled to crappie, small bone-in catfish, and brims.:o
