    Default Are they ready?

These were the eggs out of the females I caught yesterday. They look ready to me, but were caught fairly deep, not near the shallows or shoreline.
    What do y'all think?

Oh... and the electric filet knife Jerry Blake sent me was tested and proven today. Wow, what a difference! I didn't even cut ONE head off, as I was afraid I would. Thanks again Jerry.

    Default about time

Yeah, that's the way the eggs looked in the ones that I cleaned this afternoon. I caught all mine deep too. About 10' down in 24' deep. They are all still out deep for the most part it seems. they look ready.

Puller, alot of the females here have eggs too. We"ve been catching some males shallow but with dropping temps., I"m sure they will head to deeper water.Every year for the last 3 about this time of year this has happened[I keep a log], then the weather postpones the spawn till about the middle of April. They say the bigger fish spawn first and I beleive some do but here the majority spawn in the mid April to mid May time frame.

    Dennis,

Thanks. That makes sense. I'll just keep a patient vigil.

Oh. And yes, I cook em up. Grandma taught me that and my Mom eats em up too.:p
