    Default Lake Guntersville

Hey folks! I'm new to the Guntersville area and love to catch and eat crappie. Now if I can only find them! Any help on whereabouts, when, depths, colors, minnows or not, etc would greatly be appreciated!

Welcome to a great area for the outdoors. Its hard to beat North Alabama. I have only fished for crappie at Guntersville in the winter and spring. During the months of October to February are usually very productive off and on under the bridges. During the spring fish the coves or shallows. Minnows will work well, but if you know how to jig fish, you will substantially increase your catch in this area. Jig size is usually 1/16 oz. you just have to experiment with colors. Some areas the crappie always seem to bite the same general colors year in and year out, and some areas they change color choices regularly. Bass Assassins or panfish Assassins work really well around the bridges. Hope this helps you some.
