i dont unnerstan what a rod saver is and what it does.
HI all
one of my annoyances is rods and poles loose in my boat while fishing or traveling. I went to W-mart and saw a rod saver for $10.00 but wasn't impressed. My duracraft 14' doesn't have a center bench like most. Anyone got any ideas for homemade rod savers?
thanks

A rod saver is a device that fastens rods in the boat so they don't flop around or fly out.
Any ideas?
thanks

If you use long poles such as B & M or Walley marshel use 1"pvc pipe handle and all will go in it cap one end and glue it the other end just cap with a T whare you can pull it off.

retired and now i will always fish
Try this. Get a plastic milk crate. Get a 10' stick of pvc pipe from Lowes/Home Depot. Cut pieces about the height of the crate. Tie wrap or screw one piece in each corner. Then one in the middle of each side. Go with just 4 or 8. Now, measure across between the pipe. Go to Walmart and get a weight lifting plate (or 2) that will lay flat inside the crate. It wont tip. Or you can use the crate to hold your anchor. The crate should hold a mushroom style anchor up to 15 pounds.
You can move it all around the boat til you figure out where you might want something permanatly. It also makes a great storage compartment for many things that you want to keep out in close reach.

I don't like running around with my rods sticking up in the air like you see some people do. I go through rough terrain on the water and this included low-hanging timber. You can get semi-circular fittings from a hardware store and you can buy small bungee cords. You can space two fittings however far apart you want, depending on space, number of rods, and length of bungee cord you plan on using.- plus you can keep your long poles together from the garage to the lake- as long as your boat has a deck layout that will allow it.

any better description of these fittings?
What would they normally go to ?
Thanks

Twang -- I would be interested in getting a better description of what you are talking about also.
Thanks.
