    Default Side imaging snapshot-input appreciated.

I came across some structure while searching for crappie yesterday. They only sit around 2' off the bottom. I picked up 7 crappie on them and 6 of them were 12"-13". They look like 5 gallon buckets to me. I never snagged them. If they are man made whoever placed them did a good job setting them next to the channel edge. I count around 11 of them.

Another view with some other structure nearby.

I had to fish 22' deep to catch the crappie in around 24' of water.

    Any thoughts?

this is just me , i would have tried going over them again and adjusting the yardage from side to side as they do seem to be showing a small shaddow as you said 5 gal. bucketts but then you would wonder how they could all be standing up straight?
Someone will have the answer ?

You could do that if you put some concrete in them and then used a big hook on a rope to lower them and then jiggle the hook loose from the bucket handle?? Just a guess and maybe they have a small amount of brush in them too??

Yea looks like buckets to me. You just run a rope thur the handle and lower them where you want, pretty easy to setup. Work good too :D:D

I pretty much use the default settings and adjust my chart speed to one over or at my boat speed.

Try it at 800 khz and maybe see a little more detail. Did you use humviewer to estimate the height via the shadows?

I don't believe the items with the long shadows are buckets. If you scale them off the screen in the second pic they're about 3.5 ft in diameter.

If you get a chance, record the location then playback with yellowfin program. The yellowfin playback has tools that allow you to measure the size of the underwater object by knowing the distance from boat to the target and the length of the targets shadow. Good tool.
