I'd steer clear of that one Bubba, you can't hardly get parts for them anymore. I had one and the only good use I could find for it was to use it as an anchor.
Tell him to give you $5 and you'll haul it away for him.
I am thinking of buying a older used 5hp gamefisher outboard. Anyone have any experience with them? What should I look for as far as compression? I have never owned anything less than a 40hp. How many pulls should it take to start one?

GCD is right...very hard to get parts for...but your better off looking around and find a older merc, johnson, evinrude as these motors you can still get parts for very easy

Follow everybody's advice and do NOT buy this outboard. I just finally got rid of one I've had for about 5 years, could not find parts anywhere.
I would advise a air cooled Brigg N stratton 5hp.
I have one, and have zero complaints.
After a minor return of its idle mixture screw.
Mine starts on a half pull every time cold or hot.
It idles low and quiet.
Me and a buddie on my 10' boat can talk very low to each other on the lake while cruising at 4.3mph.
max speed of 6.2
There was one forsale on Texas fish forum for less than 500$ it was less than 2 years old with under 20 hours on it.
BTW new props are 70$
I have to go with everyone on this one. I had a 5 hp and it was a nice little motor but you couldn't get a part for it anywhere I had to rig up a primer bulb from another motor just to make it work because you can't buy one. Stay clear my friend..
