spinning reel advice
I only pick one up occasionally, (probably the source of my problem)
but with all the different ones I've had, have trouble with the line roller
on the bail "sticking" or "freezing up". Suggestions other than just stick
with my baitcast reels? :D

I like the Shimano reels with quickfire and the Quantum hypercast reels. Neither is too expensive and haven't had any trouble with either one. Shimano is making a new Spirex with a rear drag now ($59 at BPS) that looks really good.

Years and years ago I used strickly Lew's Speed Spins - http://i23.ebayimg.com/01/i/05/e3/ca/79_1.JPG - while Lew Childers still owned the company. I still have a few and still have yet to find a reel that is as smooth as they were. Any of you use those reels before the company got sold several times and they ruined them?
After I wore out my Lews and the new ones werent worth buying anymore I switched to shimano reels. I used them for about 10 years and was somewhat happy with them, but there were always little things that bugged me about the several reels I got. They just seemed to be clicky. I used the stradics and one ultralite that was one level down from the stradic.
In the last year I have switched to Quantum. I like the titanium bail that never gets bent out of shape and the magnetic bail trip. Its the easiest and best feeling bail trip I've ever used. The reals are nice and smooth with good drags and tend to run less than the shimano's for equivalent reels.
I still pine for my Lews speed spins though. There is a newer reels that reminds me of the speed spins though I havn't got my hands on one yet. Its the Ray Scott SuperCaster 225 Pro - http://www.usreel.com/index.html Have any of you used this reel? I'd like to hear some reports from owners.

Rub some candle wax on it. And let her go. I do that to eyes also. Theres a lot fo times the line trys to freeze in the guides.
One question??? How in the world do you use minnows on the crankbaits.?? LOL HAHAH:D
