Total Crappie newbie - advice for Allatoona ???

I'm confessing to total ignorance. I've never fished for nor caught crappie before. My son and I fish Allatoona sporadically throughout the year for bass and have mixed luck (I'm convinced Allatoona's label of "Dead Sea" is well deserved).

My son's on spring break this week so I'm taking a vacation day Friday to go fishing with him, and we've decided to try catching some crappie this time. Any suggestions on where to look for them and what bait to use will be greatly appreciated.

Troll the flats above little River may need to just get inline with the other trollers. Should be good fishing in that area now. Also get in the coves and cast to any and all blowdown and wood on the bank.
