I just got a tesoro deleon used and its starting to pay off, 63 cents so far, lol:D.
It was my first outing with a coin detector. I have another detector for gold but havent used it in years since i dont live in gold country. Anyways im hoping i can find an old silver coin soon.

Beaches is where the money is at. I live in civil war central. All sorts of fun digging goes on here.

Metal detecting is great hobby! I have 2, a Tesoro sidewinder and a vaquero. Tot lots, school playgrounds (with bark, gravel, or shredded tires), and parks are all great places to find coins and learn your machine. Sometimes old silver shows up in the strangest places. Just remember take the trash with you and fill your holes.

fair grounds are good places to find loose change , as well as places that have sporting events like a park that has little league baseball

I have a fisher and boy does it work good. It will flat out wear you out digging holes for coins. Lots of fun. Just wait till you find a gold ring!

I've always been intrigued by the hobby, but never tried it. What would be a good entry-level detector to purchase? How do they discern between junk (nails, bottle caps, etc.) and coins? Or do they?
