Why don't you still go. Presumably they have an air show somewhere near you every summer. I still go myself to a local event, not very big, but fun. Always an old warbird or two there.

They do. The air shows here are like the boat shows. Not much but ditto's.

My wife doesn't like the air shows and she goes with me to boat shows so I won't buy something.

All my lifelong run around buddies have passed on. I'm the last one standing.

I miss them.

Me too, Merlin Rolls sounded great but nothing sounds better than a radial. I am from Newport News and when I was a kid there were lots of P-51s and Corsairs flying in that area.

Thanks for the link. Famous ace Robin Olds said of the P-38; In the hands of a good pilot it was a great plane. But the P-51 made good pilots of e'm all. Those Rolls engines were one smooth engine. The first thing the Britts did when they arrived was pull the American spark plugs and replace them with the English plugs...ours fouled at high altitude.
