    Default Advice needed.....

Hey guys.....I don't post on here very often, but visit everyday. Must say it is my favorite fishin site! The advice I seek is about a situation a person I know is in. They had rented an apt. with a roommate. Both had signed the lease for 1 yr. Well, for the first 3 mos., the roommate has been nothing but trouble. Thus causing the other to move out and possibly pay out for the year and have their name removed from the lease and all obligations. Is there any thing this person can do to legally get out of this w/o paying the remaining 9 mos. left on the lease? This person has some proof of harassment from the roommate. Thanks to any who helps!

I've rented LOTs of places and the FIRST rule of thumb is talk to the landlord!!!! Explain the situation, show him the documentation you have on the harassment and ask if you can get out of the lease. Now this may or may not work. If he says yes, get it in writing!!!!!!!! If he says no ask him if you can buy out for a percentage of what's left on the years rent.

If I were closer, I would take care of the situation.
A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.
