Default My son left for basic training today

He is on his way to Fort Jackson SC and he'll be a third generation soldier in the US Army. Wether he just does one hitch like i did or makes a career of it like his grandpa did, me and the wife are proud of him.
I can only wish to be as good as my dog thinks I am

I know what you're feeling, I sent my boy off and he's been in for a year and a half. Talking on the phone is okay but ya want em home face to face. And with all the crap in Iraq and Afganistan and the threat of your kid going over there doesn't help the nerves.

My son knows the risks, and he being a military brat he knows how the system works or he calls home.

    Send him our best!!!

Hey FishinRod, I also went to Ft Jackson but it was back in 1975, can't say I enjoyed it but I am a better man for doing it. Best of luck to your son.

A lot to learn for both of you for sure. May he be watched over all through his service.

A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.
