Dog Food
I read an article some time back about baiting using dog foot to attract shad which in turn attracts the crappie. I get the wife's nylon stocking that have seen better days and put solid dog food in them and tie off after placing some gravel in for weight.
The article was using plastic container with hole in it that could be refilled as needed. With the stocking don't have to worry about somebody finding your chum bucket and using for their catching. Frequently place in three or four diffferent locations and with in short time the shad are congregating.
Received reports of people catching some nice fish on spots that I have placed chum out on, many do not even know where my 'spots' are.
