    Default grammur chek

It's quite easy to forget the mechanics of proper English, especially when speaking it. When you speak it, however, you don't have to mention apostrophes when a contraction('s) made or when it forms a possessive. So for you young and old crappie fishermen who have forgotten, pural(s) don't need an apostrophe.

    plural's (wrong)
    plurals (correct)

The fisherman's lines were tangled up to the point where he couldn't fish until he fixed them.

This has been a friendly reminder from your pal, OKSTATEjiggy.

Good tips. I would add the following:

"Loose" and "lose" are two different words.

Attica: that's a good one! I'd say it depends on the circumstances. More than one award: Coaches Award. One award: Coach's Award

To whom is the award going? To the coach? If not, then neither is correct.

To a player decided upon by a coach? Then it would be Coach's Award

To a player decided upon by more than one coach? Then it would be Coaches' Award

Ya gots to know if the thing belongs to the noun or not and ya gots to know if the noun form is plural or singular. Then you decide whats to do wif the apostrophe.

If I can suggest another topic, it would be the usage rules for the words then and than.

Which is more important proper grammar or correct spelling?

Running 'grammur' and 'chek' through Homepage | Dictionary.com won't bring up either word as spelled correctly.

I know we all have see those emails where all the words are misspelled yet the complete meaning of the email can be correctly conveyed.

How about teaching some of these people the difference between "sit" and "set"...it makes me cringe when I see it wrong...lol

You set the plate on the table. You set the hook. Wrong version....I was settin there on that sack of seeds. WHY??...are you trying to hatch them??

You sit on the boat seat or at the table.

Another example...how many times do you see people spell "IDEA", I D E A L??

    Sarcasm, LBM, sarcasm

Actually, there should some sort of punctuation after "important" in yer poast.

And, I could be mistaken, but I don't think "email" is correct either.
