    Thumbs down store gone!

Pops, Spawner, anybody - can you tell me what happened to the little
country store 5 or 10 miles out from Sardis dam, towards the town?
Went down there this year, and my jaw dropped - it's gone!
I always stopped in every October and got a sack full of Bandit crankbaits.
Any suggestions on another place? The "dam store" did not have much
of a selection and the prices seemed kind of "gougey" to me...
Got a couple of new ones to try at the store on the road into the lake
from the 4-lane, but they didn't have some of the colors I's lookin' for
    either. Thanks, Jeff

    Default Country Store ( Tabor's)

As I understand it, store was mom/pop operation owned by Tabors. Mrs. Tabor was stricken with severe illness that ultimately resulted in her passing away. During the going out of business sale, Mr. Tabor told me that he was just tired and wanted to rest for a while. I don't know the reason for tearing down the building completely, I was shocked also.

Tabor's was a great place to get baits that produced on Sardis Lake, especially Bandits. I hated to see them go!

As for Bandits, Bass Pro Shop in Memphis has a decent selection (if they are not out of the hot item of the week). Also, look at all the new Bandits, they are now assembled in China, and the hooks are very different (cheaper probably) than the old baits.

Thank you, Pops. I'm very sorry to hear about Mrs. Tabor.
I never knew them by name, but she, and the store are missed.
I have posted several times about the hooks on the newer Bandits,
but you are the first one who has replied on it. China - that really
chaps my behind. Do you remember the hooks that used to come on
Bandits back maybe 15 years ago? They were el-cheapos, and the split
rings they used then too. I was so happy when they went to Mustads...
Now we are back nearly in the same boat. Somebody probably figured
they could save a few cents and thought nobody would notice
I don't like it, but the new ones are a little better than the old ones I
    spoke of, at least.

Glad to have you on line with us DAM STORE. This up coming weekend you will have the Majority of Miss Crappie.com members over there at Spring Camp. I am sure that they can tell or even show you some of the best Bandits out there. Have no fear that there will be many responses to this post.

Not takeing anything away from the Dam Store but there is another one, Wallace's I think, that has a good price on Bandits and a good selection as well.

The Dam Store, good to see you on here and wish you well.
