    Default Today's Fishing Trip 8/19/09

Went crappie fishing at the lake today and all I managed to catch was 10 dinks and a yearly bass and then my crappie slider got attacked big time.
I was fishing with a 5' ultra light with 4lb test on it. She made about 3 good runs before I could land her. She did her best to take my slider.

She was 23' long but I didn't weigh her

Oh, did I say I had a great time!!!

    Exclamation Hey Blackhawk ...

she ought to go around 7lbs, give or take. I've got one on the wall, that size ... so I'm guesstimating. Nice fish !! They do give some serious pullage on light equipment, don't they :p

Best I've done on the same size equipment/line, was a 6lb LMB ... Crappie fishing a jighead/minnow around some shallow stumps. Probably a good thing I was well versed in "backwinding" :D ... even had an audience, and one kind soul even came running with a dipnet !! But, by the time he got within 50ft of my boat, I had already lipped the fish aboard. Got the strangest looks from him & his crew, when I put the fish back into the lake :p

Nice catch. Though I am not a huge fan of bass, they are sure a pleasant surprise on light gear. Gotta love those sliders!!!!!!!

Congrats on the nice bass Blackhawk19. Those are a challenge on light tackle. I caught an almost identical one last year that weight right at 7 pounds. Caught her on 4 pound test with a panfish assassin.

Nice one Blackhawk! The 2 biggest B.Bass i've ever caught both came on crappie jigs.
