Finally got my first crappie that deserves more than just being on my plate. I know most of you guys have caught larger crappie, but this is my first big crappie, and I'm going to put it on the wall. The fish is over 13 inches long and almost six inches wide. The colors on this fish are dark green/blue and it is just an overall quality fish. I caught 20+ fish holding tight to structure and just off the bank. Most fish were caught in less than 4 foot of water. Water (surface) temp was 67. Kept 8 for the freezer and one for the wall. I caught this fish off a midnight special from Laserdoc. I had a cork about two feet from the jig and would stop the jig and let it sit still and jig it a little more before a slow retrieve where I would repeat the stop and jig process and then slowly retrieve it back to the boat. I actually caught the wallhanger while I had stopped the cork next to the boat and was using the trolling motor to move around some structure when I noticed my cork just disappeared right next to the boat. I missed a very nice bass earlier off a red wasp jig. I started using a large 10 foot graphite pole made for crappie fisherman and with four pound test and a rod that is more like a whip and has the backbone of a wet noodle it wasn't the ideal setup to tackle a large bass.

Congrats on catch, We have not been doing much @ Catoma is Forrest Ingram close to Catoma.
Thanks
Dan
Yes! I would say 15 maybe 20 minutes. It is not a very big lake, but it doesn't get the pressure that Catoma gets. I did see several boats in there today, probably because of the weekend. Getting in and out is somewhat tricky. The launch could use some TLC>The fishing seems to be picking up. I've not been able to go for a week or so, but I have managed to put a few in the boat the last couple of trips. There seem to be plenty of small fish in that lake. The big one like I caught seem to be few and far. I might get one keeper for every three fish caught, but that is one more than I had before I started.
here is his pic of the biggest fish he has caught to date. Look at the smile!! He is a happy camper which is all that matters.

Nice crappie bebo, I do not get to fish much anymore, use to catch them like that and bigger on a regular basis. It kills me not to get to go like I use to. I am so rusty now that I probably could not catch one if you handed it to me. I am sure you will catch many more like it.
