    Question Logan Martin regulation Changes?

For the ones that fish Logan Martin on a reg-bases,I was wondering,Over the last few years I've noticed the fishing pressure (Crappie) has really increased.
What is the opinion on raising the size limit to 10" instead of the current 9"? Also limit on the use of poles to 3,Like they have at Weiss & Neely Henry.
I know it has really helped Weiss.
I was thinking of going to Montgomery the next Leg- meeting,& making a preposal to have the Law put in effect.

i wouldnt have a problem with limiting the number of rods. i am not sure about the size limitation change though. last year my brother , father and myself probably caught at least 2000 crappie on logan martin in a years time. we probably didnt have 50 less than 9 inches. a lot where 9 to 10 inches and a lot where larger. it didnt seem like much of a problem to catch fish larger than 10 " . i just dont know if throwing back the 9" crappie would help logan martin have larger crappie or if it would leave to many crapppie in that size range? i would be open to seeing what the fish and game felt would be best. i just dont want to change it on a whim and make it harder for alot of people to catch a few good crappie. there are a lot of people fishing logan martin now but i still dont think it get any where near the pressure that weiss gets. also i dont know if it was the pressure that hurt weiss or all those years of flucuating water levels. it seems to me that there are still millions and millions of crappie in logan martin. if you take a under water cam and start looking you will see them in schools that look like schools of shad. but thats just my opinion.

I have no problem with a 10" minimum length.

I do like using 4 rods to troll with.

I do think the 30 fish daily limit is excessive.

The most I take home is usually 7 fish which is plenty for 2 to 3 people.

This thread should bring some interesting responses.

Bigfish: I may be wrong(most of the time I am):D,But I use to live up close to Weiss & fished it ALOT,I think it was in the early 70's when they was a write up in one of the larger mag- (sports afield- Field & Stream ?) about Weiss water condition COULD produce the next world record Crappie. When that came out it would get flooded with boats from all over the U.S, Before that you could fish (on the weekend) almost all day & wouldn't see a half dozen boats fishing for Crappie. And believe me people was keeping anything that would go on a hook. That is one reason that I quit fishing there. The other is I moved & am closer to Neely Henry & Logan Martin.

No use in anyone wanting to keep a fish less than 10". No meat and shold not even count in any tourny. I would vote to lower all areas to 10" 3 poles and a greel of 20-25 insted of 30.

well i havent fished weiss very much so i could not say anything about it for sure. i do fish logan martin fairly regular, more for bass than crappie. bu twhen they are on i catch as many as i can. i love catching them. a couple of times a year i will keep a limit for my self and my dad or brother. to have a couple of family fish fry's with. most of the time i just catch them and throw them back.i love to feel that thump on the end of the line.i have actually had people get mad at me when they see me catching fish after fish and throwing them back. i just smile and say i'm sorry, but if you want some all you have to do is learn how to catch them. lol they dont seem to think that is very funny. i just dont understand why?

Default 9" need to go back

IF you want to have those days where you catch quality and not quantity make the size limit 10" and I think you will see nicer stringers. Personally a few fresh fish is all i really want. I don't like to freeze fish that much.

i love fresh fish to but i freezing them doesnt bother me. i like to fry them when they are fresh and bake them in the oven with lemon juice, butter and piliterri's bold and spicy sprinkled on them when i bake them in the oven.man are they good. that sounds so good i might just have to bake some for supper tonight.
