Just trucked up I-59 from Montgomery today and saw the parade of boats headed south...they got a head start on me I guess.I'm heading to Weiss (sounds familiar...I know) in the morning from here in south eastern Kentucky. We will be hanging out in the Chestnut Bay resort area when we're not harassing the fish. First trip down in quite a few years and I'm needing this 3 day trip pretty bad.
Anybody familiar with the Chestnut Bay area? Looks like a nice enough place...we'll see shortly. Of course I'm packing the camera so maybe we can share some of our trip here.
I think Chestnut is also referred to as "Crazy Woman". You're coming down at a great time with some great weather. Good luck!
"Crazy Woman"?I bet how that handle was earned would be an interesting bit o' Alabama lore. If there were no crazy women around before, there will be this evening when wifey arrives.
I can say that here cuz she hasn't found this in my Favorite Forums list yet.
CHESNUT BAY RESORT is in Yellow Creek, CRAZEY WOMAN is down river about 1/2 mile on the same side of the river, got its name because a woman use to scream at everyone fishing near her dock. GOOD FISHING, Terry.![]()

Haha...Thanks Terry. I figured something like that. I'm checked in and it is a nice place. Can't wait to hit it.
Good luck Moonshine Steel. I will be going down Wednesday and staying at JRs.
Rode out some storms in Alabama last weekend and it finally calmed down Sunday afternoon so we could pull a few of these. Only lifted one fish under the 10" limit and if it had a little chin stubble, he would've made the mark. Had a great weekend at Weiss and the Chestnut Bay accommodations were top shelf. I don't know how Weiss is gonna react to all the rain since we left but I'd love to hit it again in a few days since it's just a few hour drive.
First fish of the season are always good...and I'd much rather be holding what my bud's got on the end of his fingers than that Peterbilt steering wheel. :D
And we never even got to meet the Crazy Woman...the fish weren't that far back yet.Maybe next week.
