Just wanted some opinions on fishing line for crappie fishing in the 6-8# range. I currently used stren original but would like something with less memory. Anybody got a suggestions.
I would also be interested in any advice you guys may have about best fishing line. I have only fished for crappie seriously for the past two years-I am finding it much more enjoyable than bass tournament fishing. I have recently discovered that florocarbon is not very good for spinning reels. Any suggestions for fishing line in the 6lb range would be appreciated.
I use flame green fire line 6lb. Its tough, abrasion resistant, but mostly because you can feel the smallest suck in. Most of the big girls I used to catch would hit on the fall and would either just be there or limp the line which some still do. But a majority I feel that little tap. The argument of most is the lack of stretch in the line but vertical jigging usually is no deeper than 16-18' and mostly at 8-10' how much stretch is there at that footage of line. Thats why we use long limber poles. It is high dollar but not compared to the gas I burn on just 1 trip. If I was a long liner with a dozen or more poles id probally use something different. But if im laying my finger on the line to feel a bite I want to feel it. When someone uses one of my rigs for the first time they get hung alot because they are not used to the feel of brush with such a sensitive line. Just my opinion.
ITS LIKE BASEBALL PITCHIN,HITTIN,CATCHIN
Mr Crappie or Offshore Angler Titeline (same line) Both can be had at BPS $7 and $5 respectively for around 3000 yds. I use the fluorescent yellow/green. Absolutely great for detecting the light bite.
I was a big Spiderwire fan until I tried the Mr.Crappie Super Vis 4#. Very sensitive to light biters but still very durable. I use it whether Crappie or Largemouth fishing... heck i've even pulled up 5 pound blues with it.
Fishin' fills the time until College football season
If you have not tried Suffix Elite, you may want to give it a try. It has virtually no spool memory, and is strong stuff. Make sure to get the Elite in the box with the red label. It is available in flouresecent, but I use the clear. It sells for around $6.99 to $7.99 for a 330 yard spool.
That is my opinion
I agree with Kellog. Tried Suffix for the 1st time this year and really like it.
Trilene XL- Caught a 45 lb. blue pulling jigs and landed it-6 lb. line & 14 ft. pole, it took 45 minutes though!! What a fight!!!!!!!
I'm Sure Suffix Is Great Line But I'm Just To Cheap To Buy It. $7.00 For 300 Yards Of Suffix Or $7.00 For 3000 Yards Of Mr.crappie? I Choose Mr. Crappie Every Time. Its Great Line And With The Hi-vis It Helps Me To See My Bites.
