    Default Ramps

If you are talking about Spring Creek on Lake Weiss, you are very close to Pruett's Fish Camp and Roosters. They are on opposite ends of the bridge as you go across Cowan Creek (which is right next to Spring Creek). Those are both great places to launch. I'm not all that familiar with Spring Creek so I don't know if there is a boat launch over there. However, Pruett's and Roosters is probably less than a mile or two from where you are staying.

    Default Advice

If this is your first trip to Weiss, I have two pieces of advice:

    1. On your first day, hire a guide! This will make your trip 100 times better. You'll be lucky to find one on this short of notice but it is worth a try. Follow this link which lists most of the guides on Weiss:

    http://www.lakeweissguide.com/536.html

    2. Be extremely careful navigating around Weiss. You can go from 10 feet to 10 inches in a hurry. Spring Creek is a perfect example. At the mouth of Spring Creek it is very very shallow. I believe there is an old roadbed up there. I think I've gone into Spring Creek once in my lifetime and I just idled in at the mouth. You should ask a local which way you need to go in and out of Spring Creek.

For many coves on Weiss, there is only one way in and one way out. If you see a cove you want to fish, don't just cut the boat out across a big flat in front of the cove. Don't assume it is 10' feet there. More than likely, it's 3' or less! Just be careful and take it slow and you will be fine. They have gotten better at marking the channels better but in some areas of the lake it is still sketchy.

You are coming at a good time and I hope ya'll enjoy your visit!

There is a boat ramp at Spring Creek next to the camp grounds. If you fish there you need to run the left side of the slough (coming under the bridge from the river channel. To the right it is stumpy.

Thanks for the tips fellers, This cold weather makes me nervous, I hope we dont' have to run all the way across to Yellow Creek to find fish. I'll keep checkin' in to see if the bite is movin east.
