    Default Weiss Action

Have not seen any comments on weiss last few days. Plan to be there noon Saturday. Would like to hear about lake conditions and if the fish are
coming into the shallows and what area of the lake is likely to be the best to try.
    Info appreciated.

Joe here is my report for Weiss for 4/19/07

Crappie fishing has been pretty decent the last few days and will get better. I was out on the water a few days this week with clients and we managed to catch some pretty good stringers of crappie. On 4/18/07 we had 29 good keeper crappie with around 50 total caught. Long line trolling jigs just isn't producing good numbers right now so I have moved out on the river channel ledges and have been spider rigging with live bait. We have been targeting 16 to 18 foot of water and looking for any structure and picking up 2 - 3 good keeper crappie off each piece of structure. We have been catching most of our fish this past week in the Bay Springs and Yellow Creek area. We also picked up a few good crappie this week shooting 1/24 oz jigs under docks using a Southern Pro Stinger Grub in Black / Blue with Chartreuse tail. Don't forget to purchase your crappie badge's as the 2007 Spring tagged fishing tournament is underway and there is some good money to be won if you catch a tagged crappie. You can pickup these badges at most marina's for $10.00 and all the proceeds go back to the Weiss Lake Improvement Association.

I havent heard of any big stringers of crappie coming from shallow water or long line trolling but that could change dew to the warmer weather coming for this weekend
    Hope this helps...
    See you on Weiss

Got back from Weiss today. The weather was not great but we made a good week trip any way. Arrived last Sat. and could not fish Sat. or Sun. Got to fish one full day all week and several 1/2 days due to high winds. We only ended up with about 85 keepers. Had to throw back at least that many. The keeper were all good size up to 1 3/4 lb.

Jason and the staff at JR's Marina and Joe Green was the greatest help. This was only my 2nd time to fish the lake in my boat. Jason and Joe was very good at giving directions and the way to fish this time of year. Even with the cold windy weather that we have been having. In the high 30's two morning in the early week.

I know were to shop for supplies and bait for now on when fishing Weiss Lake it will be at JR's Marina.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY
