Berkeley lightning rod with a zebco delta reel( 5ft 6in ). IF I'm going small I use a 6ft inferno rod with a shimano Sedona's reel but I prefer the delta most

Stingerman175 and Lowe175 I did not realize that anyone shot docks with a spincast reel. Lowe175 is the reel you use with the Lightning rod a spinning or spincast, when googling the zebco delta I only saw a spincast model. Also I am just wondering do you push the button down on the reel and then release it as you release the jig? Cabela's has the Berkeley Lightning rod and spinning reel combo on sale right now for 39.99 and I was thinking about picking one up with a gift card I have to see if I like it for dock shooting. Definitely following this thread.

I use my regular jig casting rod to shoot docks with : 6'6" ESP Power Lite rod - Okuma Stratus STX20 reel - 6# hi-vis Vicious Panfish copolymer line.

Started out with shorter rods, but came to find out that a 6-7' fast action rod was a lot easier to set the hook with & not have to jerk my arms up over my head to do it.

The delta is a spincast like the 33 and yes I hold the button down. I can and have shot docks with most setups and that's my favorite but some people find other ways work for them. You experience my be different. It really depends on if your skipping or shooting. I do both depending on how light of a jig I'm using but 90% with the delta and a 1/6oz marabou jig. Light jigs on the spinning reel.
