    Default Guntersville Tournament

The Coosa River Crappie Club will hold a tournament on Saturday 4-21-18 at Guntersville Lake. This tournament is open to everyone. You do not have to be a club member to fish in it. Sign up and weigh in will be held at the Langston Ramp on South Sauty Creek. Sign up is from 5:30 until 6:00. You may fish from 6:30 until 2:00 and must be in line to weigh in by 3:00. The entry fee is $50.00 per boat. We pay back 1 place for every 3 boats entered. We will use our regular club rules which are pretty close to the same rules used by Crappie USA. We have a pole limit of 3 poles per person in use at any time and a length limit of 10 inches or greater on all fish weighed in. The weather is looking good for this Saturday so it should be a great day. The tournament director is Paul Whorton and he can be reached at 205-821-8373 for any questions you may have. Also you could contact me, Roger Absher at 205-283-7638. Hope to see everyone there.

Dang. I didn't have time to check in this morning while I was at work. If I had known that I could launch wherever, I might have fished it, if I could have got more dialed in on some this afternoon. I fished today but didn't crappie fish. I took a guy fishing this afternoon and he wanted to catch fish, he didn't care what kind they were. He also wanted to single pole fish. So I took him way up in a creek head, into fast water and we wore out white bass. Actually, they wore us out. My arms and shoulders are done for the day. He had as much fun as any kid that I've ever taken fishing. Well worth the trip. We were packing up the tackle to leave and he looked at me and grinned and said "I bet I made 1000 casts today." I said, "I bet you did too and only 100 of them landed in tree limbs over the water." He about fell out of the boat laughing.

I'll catch up with yall on a tournament one of these days. I still gotta hone my crappie catching skills. Either that or I'll know I'm just donating money. LOL
