    Default Gator at mallatd

just so you folks know went back in back waters at mallard creek today on wheeler while exploring ditches around whats called blue hole i ran across bout a 7-8 foot gator laying up on bank. had it wore slick too. i wasnt drunk or doing no wacky weed, and sense i was like 15 foot from him got a good look as i flipped to 24 volt and vacated his domain with great haste. had cam on my phone as well as vodeo but all i could think about at time was getting gone and if i had change of underwear in truck.

No Doubt MadJoe - the state actually released several hundred gators in that area in the late 70's early 80's - supposedly to control beavers. Later after a near miss with a child, they tried to catch them - and got about 20 - out of hundreds that they released. Blackwell swamp behind Huntsville International airport is FULL of 'em.

My parents have taken pictures of some on Cotaco Creek before also. Last time we saw one was about a year ago though.

Also there's not really any need to be afraid of them if you're in a boat. If you leave them alone, they will almost definitely leave you alone too. When we used to go to Lake Okeechobee every winter, we were pretty much always pretty close to several large gators, but they never even showed the least bit of interest in us.

There's a couple down on Flint Creek also. One of them is pretty good size too! Seen it several times.

Size: 24.8 KBNo need to be scared of gators. I have fished with them my whole life on the Alabama River. I took this pic Saturday. A 10 footer less than 20 feet from the boat. I fished right on by and he never even went in the water. As long as you don't bother them they want bother you. Now if Troy had been with me we might have been chuuut'en. LOL!

I started fishing from a kayak in Georgia several years ago around Ft Stewart. Use to see 50 or 60 a day sometimes. The only time I had problems were mother Gators with babies if I didn't respect their space and Gators that had been feed by people. I wouldn't worry about them.
