I'm a crappie fishing newbie with a really limited skillset, but I still managed to find several fish yesterday. We had scattered showers throughout the day which had boat traffic pretty minimal. The water temp in the mid-lake area was around 57-58 degrees. The only crappie technique that I have any experience with is shooting docks, so that's what I set out to do. I fished several docks in pockets holding bait, along with a few docks on main lake points leading in to pockets. I caught bigger fish (10-12") on the main lake docks in about 8-10' of water. Shallower (5-7') docks in pockets were a little more productive but the size wasn't there. Average size of fish in the pockets was about 7". In all I had 20-25 fish over the course of about 4 hours. I had fun, but I'd really love to learn a few new tactics!

If you're in the area and wanna show a newbie the ropes, I'd love to get on the water with ya. I'd be happy to take my boat!
