BamaMan, you're the only fella I've heard refer to Jack fishing as easy! What's your secret, the rest of us struggle to find a few of them. KrappieHunter those are some awesome fish. Saw your post of 30 fish in 30 minutes, were you on the main lake in deep water over structure or up under a bridge or fishing from the bank. Man that is phenominal to hit it like that, I'd love to have a day like that. What lake/river are you fishing, sounds like you may have been on a couple of different bodies of water. Congrats.
Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing. I have to agree with everyone else so far. Why quit for the winter when the winter can be some of the most productive times to fish for crappie. Plus, it's when all the big slabs come out to play.No winterizing here! :D..Wait, what am I saying, you should definately hang it up for the winter, everyone knows that crappie can only be caught spring and fall...That goes for the rest of you that fish AL lakes as well..especially for those that fish Lake Mitchell and Logan Martin..They never bite on those lakes in the winter..:p
Simple Life = Better Life
Yodibuzz and Bob D, I don't want to hijack KrappieHunters thread. I will make it short now and if you need more info later I will post a new thread on jack fishing. Best time Dec, Jan, water temp below 45. 40 below is better. Use 1/2oz red head jig tied with white marabou. with small tribal stinger hook. most fish are caught on the stinger hook. Use a shiner with the jig.
Just bump bottom. The key is knowing where to get them.

well where do we get em at? ive heard about these jack things. Big River Bridge a good spot? How deep are they? i catch all my crappie 25 plus foot of water. Its not worth the fight to get under a bridge.
