Thread: Coosa Trip today on Ala. Side

I just cpuldnt resist these cool-crisp mornings we are having the past few days. Ive been catching a few F-Head Catfish the last 5-6 wks but I just had to catch a few Crappie today. I fished some of my favorite spots that I have fished in over past years and found a few. I was bumping minnows over structure in 6-12 ft. of water. I caught 15 but only 4 keepers. The bite was slow but I feel like its fixing to bust open. Water temp was 81 at daybreak and rose to 83 by noon. Biggest were 12&13 inchers. All fish were released . I forgot to say I was Spider-rigging. Hang in there guys, It wont be long now.BB

You spider rigged 3 rods?... or where does the 3 rod limit end for Weiss? Not tryin' to start nothin', just askin'.

You done better than me today, but I didn't get on the water 'til a little after 9 am. I long lined Logan and caught White Bass, Yellow Bass, Spotted Bass, and Bluegill. Had one huge slab flip me off about 10 yards behind the boat, all I could say was DANG!

I use 3 rods after I cross over Ala. line and everyone who fishes the upper Coosa knows where State Line Cove is located. I went On-Line and purchased my new Non-Resident Liscense 8-31-10. No size limit on Crappie on Ga. side but I never keep any under 10 in. and usually release all fish. All the fish I caught yesterday was Crappie except for 1 Channell Cat and 1 small Bass. Water is down approx. 2 ft in the River. As the water temp drops the bite will get better and better. Structure-Structure-Structure neat deep water. BB
