Thread: 3/15/10 Logan Martin report.

Had a long time friend and fishin' buddy come up to visit from Baton Rouge this weekend and we decided to give Logan a try since his Dad has a place on the lake. I launched at Town and Country and went and picked up Lester at his Dad's place. We decided to try Poorhouse Creek, we bottom bounced minnows with one rod each and drifted minnows 5' below corks on another rod each... I had a 1/32 oz. firetiger jig tipped with a minnow under my cork and Lester had a 1/0 gold crappie hook and splitshot under his cork. We fished water 18-12 deep. We took a few fish with the bottom bounce rigs with most being short throw backs, but a few keepers. We caught all of our big fish on the cork rigs drifting over points.

I got the big Crappie of the day at 2 lbs. on the button, Lester got big fish of the day with a 4-7 Blue Cat.

Fishing was slow and the wind howled but we had a good day with 12 keeper Crappie (and about that many throw backs) and 4 keeper Blue Cats.

I gave all the fish to Lester since he doesn't get out but a couple times a year and I can go any time I want.

It was a good day to be with a good friend!

Edited to say:

Water clarity was 6"+, muddy but clearing... and the water temp was 51* in the main river and 54* towards the back of the creek, so the water is warming and clearing.

Good catch - wow, only 23 years old, huh!:D
