    Default Lay Lake Report 3/13/10

Fished Lay yesterday from 6:45am - 5p. I was fishing out of beeswax creek. Fishing was slow and the conditions were bad, chocolate milk water, high winds, and lots of rain. Water temp was 56. I caught 12 crappie with only 7 of those being keepers, but all the keeps were well over 1lb. The biggest was 1lb 11oz. I was longlining jigs and pushing minnows in about 10ft of water. As a bonus, I also caught 2 small spots, a 7lb drum, a white bass, and small blue cat. Sorry, I would have posted pics, but I dropped my camera in the water..

I need some advise I hear a lot about Long Line jigging I have done that a lot in Denver fishing for Walleye, but I do not know if it is the same. For Walleyes I would troll with my electric motor with FireLine #6-8 lbs with a Mr. Twister 1/8 oz jig (Chartruse in color) way in the back until it just tick the bottom or the tops of the weeds. Is this the same way for the Crappies at Weiss and the Coosa River area?
