Default We are going to Neely Henry 1 Nov.

I have very limited experience fishing for crappie. Although I've fished most of my life I've just really started targeting crappie since this past spring. This will be my first trip to Neely Henry and was hoping for some info that would tip the scales in our favor. We are going to try shooting docks, but if that fails I'll be lost. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Richard,
Try bouncing the river ledges when you go I think they will be off the docks.
I have never fished Neely so maybe someone like Terry will tell you where to go on the water.
Your jigs or on the way to you.

    Default Thank you Laser!

I'm branching out and trying to get some experience under my belt by fishing different water. I think it will make me a better overall fisherman, and getting to fish with different people who have different styles and tactics is only going to add to that experience. Thanks again for making me some more jigs.

    Default Nov. 1 Neely trip

Some fish should still be on docks, but many more will be on the Coosa River ledges, even if they are pulling water thru. dam. Try mouth of Canoe, Shoal, and Beaver creeks - all should be good, as well as main river ledges below Gadsden City dock south to Hwy 77 bridge. Minnows and/or Jigs fished near bottom in 10 to 18 ft. of water should work well. Maps readily available at tackle and bait shops and Wal Mart, too. Good Luck

Thank you Pop Rivers! I got some more jigs from Laser Doc and he threw in a lure that floats that I'm going to try it out this weekend. I'll post the results of our trip. I'm looking forward to fishing different water.

Just got home from Neely Henry today. We got on the water at 5 a.m. and couldn't really get going good until the fog lifted. We caught one crappie today. It was still nice to get on the water, but I think I'll stick closer to home. Nothing like home field advantage so to speak. Did catch some lg. mouth and stripe also.

    Default slow bite

I fished Weiss today with little luck, only had 4 keepers. We caught stripe and bass all day. We were fishing river ledges.

Some friends went Neely and reported a good catch shooting docks in coves down from new city dock.

Good weather forecast all this coming week. That should help.

We fished Canoe creek and another creek I think its called Permita or Permena, something like that anyway, we shot some docks and talked to a couple of other guys fishing the main channel, but didn't seem like anyone was catching any real numbers. Its a learning experience, and getting a change of scenery was nice. It was my first time to fish Neely Henry and it looks like a great lake to target those crappie next spring. I'll have some more experience by then and should be able to find them next time.

Palmetto Creek is the name you're looking for.

I fished all day Sunday Nov.1st with my brother. Neither one of us had ever fished the lake before. It is a beautiful lake, full of shad. We fought the wind all day, and had battery problems. We caught 4 spots 2-4 lbs., 2 bream, & 1 cat. I will be back, because I know that I can catch crappie there. A very worthwhile trip dispite all the bad luck.
