I have recently built a few pvc trees. I have never used them before and I really dont know where I should put them for winter fishing. If you have any advice or experience please share. I would like to know about depth and terrain features. Thanks

When placing PVC or natural trees, think about crappie travel routes; both river channels and creek channels. Place structure on the ledges of the channels in 12 to 18 ft. of water for stained lakes, and deeper for clear lakes. Also, consider flats adjoining creek and river channels, close to deep water. You will have to make several habitat spots to have only a few that will be consistant producers crappie. Keeping adding structure to the good spots and continue to make new spots. After a while you will have several good spots.
All structure added will benefit fish of all species. However, be very careful not to make dangerous - shallow structure; for swimmers and skiers to fall on, possibly causing serious injury. Getting permission from lake owners and conservation officers is always advised. You will get permission most of the time, if you follow their guidelines and requirements for fish habitat placement. You may need to educate the lake owners about the need for fish habitat, and the Federal Plan - " wwwfishhabitat.org " is a good place to use as reference.![]()
Take a Kid fishing, keep only enough to eat, and release the rest to spawn again. Pop
