Anybody have any spots they might lend a fellow angler below Wheeler Dam? I am staying at the Fishermans Resort this weekend and really dont have a clue where to start fishing for Crappie below the Tailrace and surrounding area. The campground and marina is inthe creek just below the tailrace on the left bank. I dont need you to bait my hook but would really appreciate a hint or two of where to start at. I dont want to venture too far from the tailrace area cause iI am not familiar with the Wilson lake. I aint scared though if I had a clue where to drive too.
Your not too far from Town creek, 6th Creek and Shoals Creek. They would be good places to look.
thanks, I will take a ride down the lake and try them out. I will let you know if I find anything
Its not really that big of a lake one end to the other. There are a few creeks that come in on both sides. I would think there is probably lots of trash and logs floating in the water now though.
Shoal creek is a good bet as are many of the creek arms on the north side, bluewater creek is just across the river, think deep cover or docks in deep water

No luck with crappie last week, thanks for the advice though. We had fun and caught a load of smalmouths. I killed a few dozen minnow in a three day span and didnt catch one crappie. I guess the muddy swift water and tons of debris kinda put me off of them. I did go back to my home lake that had cleared up during my vacation and tore some up on Logan Martin. Maybe next year I will do better on my annual vacation.
