Default Weiss Lake

Whats going on with Weiss? Thinking of going this weekend and would like a report on the fish and lake conditions. Any info would be appreciated.

Default Weiss this week

The weather last weekend was terrible, cold and windy. This week end is predicted to be much better. Fish are on docks and chasing shad. Little River, Yellow Creek, and Cowan Creek are all fairly clear and producing fish.

Last week-end, during the Alabama State Crappie Anglers Championship, the fish weighed-in averaged about 1 to 1 3/4 lbs, even with the terrible weather.

I finally made it down last week with the wife. I fished the Cowan Creek area and averaged 18 keepers/Day. Most of the fish came on Bobby Garland Jigs. I used 3 different colors.
1. Blue Ice- Colored tail with Chartruse dye.
2. Emerald Shiner- Colored tail with Chartruse dye.
3. Key Lime Pie.
Most Fish were caught at the docks from 1.5 ft. to 12 ft. of water, Although I did fish the bridge quite a bit because my wife prefers to do so.
Fish size averaged between 11 and 13 inches, with an occasional 14 inch fish. Nothing huge but solid slabs.
