Default Catoma Lake (Cullman)

I remember now why I don't fish this lake very often, but I had some time today and wanted a change of scenery. I didn't get on the water until 4 and fished until after 6 with only two bream caught. I marked fish, around the bridge, but couldn't get a hit so I'm not sure if they were crappie. I tried some plastics (bass assassin and curly tails, but I couldn't buy a bite today. I

bebo33, I have found that if crappie are around the bridges, sooner or later you will catch them if you know anything about crappie fishing. I dont feel like these fish you have been marking are crappie. This is my opinion from experience.

Default Yea you might be right

I think everyone on here wishes they knew more about crappie fishing. I know I do, which is why I use this sight as a tool to gain information on different techniques and styles that I carry to the different lakes in the hopes of being more successful. I just wish I were more consistent with success rather than an empty live well. Being strictly a bass fisherman and not targeting crappie until last year just makes it more interesting. Crappie fishing isn't harder; it is just different. Which is what keeps it challenging. It can be frustrating, but then if it was easy everyone would be doing it.
I am going back tomorrow afternoon. I'm gonna bow hunt a.m. and then hit the lake (weather permitting) to see if we can't do better at catching instead of just fishing. I'll report the outcome.
