I've used a bunch of different ones, and now have a box of them in the boat. I like the stick floats with a spring attachment for fixed, and the wally cheapies, with a twist, for slip. The twist is a peg in both ends, and the pegs have a hole in them. No groove ever been cut in those and they slip just fine. I don't use heavy line which might not work as well. My 2 cents.
