Start with a small piece like redear said. Try trimming the start end at a 45* angle – it will help lash down the tensile.
When you get to the end;
tie two wraps over the tensile and two under the tensile,
trim the tensile off at an angle,
then over wrap the cut off,
and finish the jig.
