Default Habitat placement in Alabama Lakes - do's and don'ts

Always check with Lake Owners. Alabama Power does not like wire, metal, or stake beds in shallow water.. If you use cedar trees and/ or PVC Porcupine habitat, with poly rope, and blocks/ bricks/ or concrete for weight, and place in 10' of water or deeper; you should have no problems.

Boater, Wave runner, towables, jet ski, and swimmer safety is Alabama Power's concern, in addition to polution/ trash. Never put junk in the lake, such as tires, old appliances, furniture, metal rods, etc.

Also, is is wise to avoid putting habitat in main travel lanes anywhere; when water is less than 10 feet deep.

All fish need habitat, the more the better. The loss of fish habitat is a serious problem on most freshwater lakes in America. Visit the National Fish and Wildlife's web site ( www.fishhabitat.org )for more information. Also visit
