My son Montanaboy really likes cranks, but he trolls them. We did that with him over in Missouri, catching lots of crappie, as well as hybrids, walleyes, and cats. It's a lot of fun. If I had a boat, it would be one of favorite ways to fish. Well, maybe ANY kind of fishing is my favorite way.

When the males are shallow I like to use a crank bait away from the bank and get the larger females. I guess I'm really just doing as many different patterns as I know just to be fishing. My freezer is already full so I'm experimenting different technics and new water. I think I had a total of 39 fish and kept 10 of them. I didn't start fishing till 4:30 pm.

My regular fishing buddy is on a cruise with his wife so I been going solo all week. It sure was handy to have some one to park the truck.

The wind got up before I made it back to the ramp. Swells were 3'. My boat washed up on the bank while I was backing the trailer in. It was difficult to push the boat back in the water to trailer it. My fishing partner has a lot of health issues so I fish alone more often than not and he goes on a lot of cruises too.

I'd suggest that you have Cindy help you, but I know just what kind of response I would get from Darlene if I suggested such a thing to her. Too bad I live so far away.

She doesn't want to learn to back a trailer or drive a boat.

It seems I catch crappie in a wide variety of locations. I generally see them on the sonar then stop and fish. Traditional sonar, I don't have downvu or sidevu on the front of the boat. As a retiree I have to save a long time for a new sonar. I just blew all my Cabala's points on a MinnKota 45lb thrust with maximize for my small boat. It really does make the battery last longer.
