My dad never took me fishing

Sound familiar? Break the cycle and get back to the important things in life, with family and friends, using crappie fishing as a mutual discussion other than TV or playing those electronic games.    

Time to bond with family and friends using crappie fishing as excuse to get outdoors, then in evening sitting around the table with plate full of crappie talking about the day's events. 

It is nice to talk about taking kids crappie fishing. However, here is the truth crappie has a reputation of being easy to catch. In reality, they are one of the hardest of all freshwater fish to catch to keep attention of the youngster. The 3-5 year old is not fish savvy to feel the thump or see the bobber twitch.  Dad is too busy watching his line to watch his son or daughters' line.

When you take a kid fishing, it is suppose to be their day: excitement of getting up early in the morning with dad, eating a peanut butter sandwich in the pick-up truck driving thru the fog on the way to the lake.   

The fun time does not have to be $10,000 rig with all the toys that go with it.

As mentioned, their attention span is short being confined in a boat is going to take the enjoyment out of for them and you. "Daddy I want to go home" or "Daddy I got to go to potty" How about this one "Daddy they are not biting here, lets go on the other side of the lake" The trip is about them not you, so you are going to have patience with them. When you do catch a fish, let them pet and play with them in old bucket. Too them that is fishing. It does not have to be slabs that you would write home about, bluegill, perch all kinds of freshwater fish will make their day. 

Bank, fishing will work just fine for them, along with old cane pole, bobber and teaching them how to hook a worm.  Why would you give them a reel that going to tangle up with bird nests for you to fret about? By chance the fish are hitting intense after 20 minutes, they will be bored, and then let them catch frogs, or pick up a turtle and watch the enjoyment. The time you spend with them will be memories that can last a lifetime for you and them. 

There are too many variables crappie fishing, but if you target all kinds' freshwater fish, minnows, frogs, skipping stones will be fun day for both of you.
